Digital Exposure

by Dreckig

/
  • Record/Vinyl + Digital Album

For Dreckig's third album, Papi Fimbres and Shana Lindbeck once again collaborated with Pinewave Studio's Johann Wagner. Utilizing the studio's impressive array of vintage drum machines, synthesizers and modulars, their favorites being the Roland 808, DMX & Moog Voyager, they created DIGITAL EXPOSURE. Continuing with the tradition of singing in Spanish, German and English, the album touches on topics of social constructs - such as 'Own Your Shadow' and its call to look deep into one's existence, on environmental impacts - such as 'La Ballena', a love song for our deep blue ocean, on embracing everyday life - such as 'La Mita', telling the story of an adventurous trip to México's stunning coast. The flute, Dreckig's third and sometimes only vocalist, adds a focused perspective to their unique sound and rounds out the album in its truest form.

about

DRECKIG 'DIGITAL EXPERIENCE VINYL' (BROKEN CLOVER RECORDS/USA IMPORT)

DRECKIG comes out of Portland, Oregon, USA, and is a longtime husband and wife duo consisting of Papi Fimbres and Shana Lindbeck who have come up with a very interesting and original sounding vinyl record in the shape of Digital Experience. The music is clearly influenced by the European dance/Eurodance/Krautrock/Acid/Synthwave movement that existed roughly between 1978 and 1992. With the use of drum machines, synthesizers, percussion and keyboards, they create a very original synth driven big bombastic 80s (and a bit of late 70s) sound that also features vocals sometimes, which gives it a sorta Latin meets World Music kinda feeling. There is a great vibe going on while listening to the record, as DRECKIG is keen on melodies, and if you like for example ZENOBIA, MAGIC SWORD, HENGE or even ALTIN GUN, you will appreciate this DRECKIG as well. KRAFTWERK is obviously also a close-call to mention as well, and that's when the Krautrock of the 70s influences come around in a song like the fantastic closing track Qo'noS. They sound retro and modern at the same time, with a focus most of the time on that big heavy 80s synth sound that makes them sound really cool (STRANGER THINGS fans be aware!). It's like we have gone back to 1985, yet it still has this refreshing modern vibe and as already mentioned, the vocals capture a World Music kinda approach. All together this DRECKIG's vinyl album Digital Experience is a really great experience that sounds extremely huge on vinyl! about

Dreckig Portland, Oregon

Longtime husband and wife duo Papi Fimbres and Shana Lindbeck filter Latin dance rhythms through a portal of krautrock and electronic club music. Layering drum machines, synthesizers, percussion and vocals in Spanish, English and German, they create energetic, dance space music that is equal parts trippy and deeply groovy. -Willamette Week ... more
